  1. Marly,

I’m pleased with your approach to task three. You have clearly explored the purpose for each sentence type in relation to the news broadcast. Good job.

    Targets:
Have a look at your answer for task two, it looks like you might need to revise your understanding of different clauses. Can you explain what a simple, compound and complex sentence are?

I’m interested – why did you post to your blog in this way?

A simple sentences is when it only has one main verb and it gives out the idea.
      EXAMPLE: Marley jumped the tree.

A compound sentences carry’s two or more pieces of information and they are linked by connectives. Connectives are words:
      But, Whereas, Therefore …
EXAMPLE: The boys walked down the road and their parents waved from the house.

A complex sentences doesn’t stand by its own it needs something else to make sense. Complex sentences is important when we write and we use complex sentences a lot when we speak.
EXAMPLE: Although I’m not very good, I really enjoy football.

I have posted it like this because on my note I had problems with the copy and paste.

  3. Marly – I am so pleased that you have gone back and looked at your targets and responded to them. I’m sure I will see these changes in your development of grammar knowledge and application.
